General description
Study of silicon-silicon dioxide structure at liquid nitrogen temperature by electron spin resonance spectra has been investigated. Diffusion coefficient and solubilities of several metals (Ag, Cu, Au, Pd, and Ti) in silicon dioxide have been discussed. Microcontact printing of self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of alkylsiloxanes on the surface of silicon dioxide has been reported. Separation and characterization of silicon dioxide (SiO2) nanostructures in dietary supplements marketed in products specifically targeted for women has been proposed.
Application
Silicon dioxide may be employed as insulating layer on top of the silicon in the fabrication of gold electrode, used for flow injection amperometric detection of organophosphorus (OP) nerve agents.

A flow-injection system with an organophosphorus-hydrolase (OPH)-biosensor detector has been developed and characterized for the rapid detection of organophosphorus (OP) nerve agents. The enzyme was immobilized onto a thin-film gold detector through a cystamine-glutaraldehyde coupling. Factors influencing the performance were
