Gene Information

General description

Resistin is a new member to of the family of adipocyte-secreted proteins. The biological functions of resistin, as well as its molecular target, are largely unknown. Whether it promotes or antagonizes insulin action is still unclear. Recombinant rat Resistin is an 11.9 kDa protein consisting of 94 amino acid residues and 16 additional amino acids residues-His Tag.
Resistin is an adipocytokine secreted by fat tissues and is localized to pancreatic α-cells in rat.

Application

Resistin from rat has been used to study the effect of resistin on gonadotropins and local ovarian hormone-induced steroidogenesis.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Resistin mediates energy homeostasis and inflammation process. Upregulation of resistin is observed in obesity. It is also known to increase blood glucose level and might promote insulin resistance. Thus, it might influence type 2 diabetes. Resistin might be linked to insulin resistance mediated myocardial infarction (MI). In rats, overexpression of resistin is observed in myocardial infarction and cardiac dysfunction.

Physical form

Lyophilized from 20 mM Tris, pH 8.0.

Reconstitution

Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles.
Reconstitute in water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers.

Obesity and atherosclerosis are inflammatory states involving variable metabolic signals. The adipokine resistin is implicated in adipose tissue dysfunction and is modulated by PPARγ. In this study, resistin and PPARγ role is investigated in the development of CVS disease. Forty-eight

Osteogenic differentiation (OD) of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) contributes significantly to the regeneration of bone defects. Resistin, an adipose tissue-specific secretory factor, has been shown to involve many different functions, including metabolism, inflammation, cancer, and bone remodeling. However
