General description
5′-Nucleotidase/CD73 is glycosyl-phosphatidyl inositol (GPI)- anchored cell surface protein. Itis present in various tissues and cells including endothelial cells, epithelialcells, and subsets of B and T cells.
Application
5′-Nucleotidase/CD73 has been used as a standard in recombinanthuman CD73 assay.
Biochem/physiol Actions
5′-Nucleotidase/CD73 actsas a rate-limiting enzyme to produce adenosine. It helps in upholding tissuehomeostasis by converting the adenosine triphosphate (ATP)-triggered immuneactivation to adenosine-mediated immunosuppression.CD73 is a novel immunoinhibitory protein that participates in tumor growthand metastasis. CD73 in combination with conventional therapy and/or otherimmune checkpoint inhibitors has been reported to show therapeutic effectsagainst cancer.
