General description

Anti-MAFF (N-terminal) is developed in rabbit using a synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids of human MAFF, conjugated to keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH) via a C-terminal added cysteine residue, as immunogen. The Maf family is divided into two subclasses, large Mafs (vMaf, cMaf, MafB and Nrl) and small Mafs (MafF, MafK, and MafG). Human MAF bZIP transcription factor F (MAFF) encodes a 164 amino acids protein. It lacks an N-terminal transactivating domain.
v-maf avian musculoaponeurotic fibrosarcoma oncogene homolog F (MAFF) is a transcription factor which does not have a transactivation domain but possesses a leucine-zipper.

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 2-17 of human MAFF, conjugated to KLH via a C-terminal added cysteine residue. The mouse and rat sequences differ from the human by one and two amino acids, respectively. Seven amino acids are identical in MaFG in the C-terminal region of the peptide.

Application

Anti-MAFF (N-terminal) antibody produced in rabbit has been used in immunoblotting and immunoprecipitation.

Biochem/physiol Actions

The three small Maf proteins participates in development, differentiation, hematopoiesis and stress response.
v-maf avian musculoaponeurotic fibrosarcoma oncogene homolog F (MAFF) has been shown to interact with other transcription factors and it associates with certain regulatory sequences in the gene encoding the oxytocin receptor.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, and 15 mM sodium azide.
