General description

Nortriptyline is a second generation tricyclic antidepressant (TCA) marketed under trade names such as Sensoval, Aventyl®, and Pamelor® for treatment of major depression. Nortriptyline is also an active metabolite of the TCA amitriptyline. This certified Snap-N-Spike® Solution is suitable as an internal standard for quantitation of nortriptyline by LC/MS or GC/MS in clinical toxicology, forensic analysis, urine drug testing, isotope dilution methods, or medication monitoring applications.

Application

  • Mass spectrometry standard: Nortriptyline-D3 hydrochloride solution is utilized as a high-precision internal standard in mass spectrometry to quantify nortriptyline levels in biological samples, essential for clinical pharmacokinetic studies and therapeutic drug monitoring.
  • Metabolite research: As a stable isotope-labeled nortriptyline, it aids in metabolite profiling, helping researchers identify and quantify nortriptyline metabolites in various matrices, which is crucial for understanding drug metabolism and disposition.
  • Pharmacokinetic studies: The solution is applied in pharmacokinetic research to assess the absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) of nortriptyline, providing insights into the drug′s efficacy and safety profiles.
  • Quantitative analysis: In bioanalytical research, Nortriptyline-D3 hydrochloride serves as a standard in developing and validating analytical methods, ensuring accuracy and reproducibility in the quantification of nortriptyline in pharmaceutical formulations and clinical samples.
