General description

Human Interferon-γ (IFN-γ) is a Type I cytokine produced by the lymphocytes activated in response to specific antigens or mitogens. It has a pivotal role in activating primed macrophages for nonspecific tumoricidal activity as well as can stimulate monocytes for enhanced cytotoxicity against tumor cells. It also has several biological functions like inhibition of cell or tumor growth, promotion of B cell differentiation into plasma cells and antiviral activity. Further, it can enhance the cytotoxicity of natural killer cells and T-cells. Monoclonal anti-Interferon-γ−R-Phycoerythrin antibody reacts specifically with human IFN-γ.

Specificity

The conjugates will identify and quantitate cells containing intracellular forms of human IFN-γ by flow cytometry.

Immunogen

recombinant human IFN-γ

Application

Monoclonal anti-Interferon-γ−R-Phycoerythrin antibody can be used in flow cytometry for detecting intracytoplasmic cytokines and enumerating cytokine-producing cells in a mixed population.

Physical form

Solution in saline containing up to 0.5% bovine serum albumin and 0.1% sodium azide as a preservative.

Preparation Note

Purified antibody is conjugated to R-phycoerythrin (PE).

Interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma) is crucial for immunity against intracellular pathogens and for tumor control. However, aberrant IFN-gamma expression has been associated with a number of autoinflammatory and autoimmune diseases. This cytokine is produced predominantly by natural killer (NK) and natural killer
