General description

Gibberellic acid is an endogenous plant growth regulator

Application

Gibberellic acid may be used as a reference standard for the determination of gibberellic acid in wheat extracts by solid phase extraction followed by liquid chromatography coupled with electrospray tandem mass spectrometry.
Refer to the product′s Certificate of Analysis for more information on a suitable instrument technique. Contact Technical Service for further support.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phytohormone that controls important aspects of plant growth: germination, elongation, and flowering. The effects are mediated by inducing degradation of the DELLA repressor protein, and probably other minor signalling pathways.

Gibberellic acid (GA) can regulate many plant developmental processes. GAST1 has been identified as a GA-stimulated transcript, and Arabidopsis GAST-like genes are known to constitute the GASA family. However, the functions of most GASA genes are not clear at present.
