Application

Methyl heptadecanoate may be used as an internal standard in the gas chromatographic analysis (GC) of an animal fat like lard. It may also be used as internal standard for the gas chromatographic coupled with mass spectrometric (GC-MS) analysis of algal biomass and oils, used in the production of biodiesel.
