General description

The Y04 plates for Haploid Yeast Cells utilize a microfabricated silicone ceiling with a height similar to yeast cells to restrict their growth in a single focal plane & maintaining the x,y position over time.

Application

CellASIC® ONIX plate for haploid yeast cells (4chamber, 3.5-5 micron) has been used in live-cell microscopy and analysis of Schizosaccharomyces pombe cells.[1] It has also been used in live cell imagining of Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains.[2] This CellASIC ONIX plate for haploid yeast cells (4chamber, 3.5-5 micron) is also suitable for:
  • Time-lapse analysis of yeast cells
  • Long-term continuous perfusion experiments
  • Solution exchange experiments (induction, inhibition, drug dosing, etc.)
  • Comparison of up to 4 different cell types or exposure conditions(media components) in parallel
  • Cell division tracking (follow mother/daughter cells over generations)
  • Temperature and gas atmospheric control (temperature shift, anoxic conditions etc.)

  1. Can Y04C plates be used for long-term experiments with yeast cells, and can an estimated average shelf life for the plates be provided if there is an anticipated plate usage for the year?

    1 answer
    1. Both plates Y04C and Y04T are suitable for long-term culture (3 days or more). However, with Y04C, yeast cells will stop dividing after approximately 24 hours, while with Y04T, cells will continue to divide. In the case of Y04T, it is primarily the "Mother" cells that are retained and continue to divide, making the plate suitable for customers interested in "split lifetime measurement." It is recommended for the end user to start with Y04C to get a feel for CellASIC and then try Y04T as needed, as Y04C would be easier to get started and use. Regarding shelf life, it is recommended to use the plate within 6 months of receipt.
