Gene Information

General description

BST-2 also known as CD317 and Tetherin, bone marrow stromal antigen 2 (BST-2) is an interferon-inducible transmembrane protein that potently inhibits the release of nascent retrovirus particles. BST-2 is downregulated by the viral Vpu protein. BST-2 acts as a direct physical tether, which holds and links virions at the cell membrane. These tethered virons can remain on the cell surface or be internalized by endocytosis for degradation. BST-2 inhibits MMP2 and MMP15 activity, resulting in the attenuation of cellular proliferation and migration. BST-2 interaction with LILRA/ILT7 receptors in plasmacytoid dendritic cells negatively regulates IFN production in response to viral infection.

Specificity

This antibody recognizes the extracellular domain of BST2

Immunogen

Epitope: extracellular domain
KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to the extracellular domain of human BST2.

Application

Anti-BST2 is an antibody targeting the BST2 protein, validated for use in WB & IHC.
Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:500-2,000 dilution from a representative lot detected BST2 in human cardiac myocyte and human hepatocyte tissues.

Quality

Evaluated by Western Blot in human bone marrow tissue lysate.

Western Blot Analysis: 1.0 µg/mL of this antibody detected BST2 in 10 µg of human bone marrow tissue lysate.

Target description

~33 kDa observed. The calculated molecular weight of this protein is 20 kDa, but can be observed at ~25-35 kDa due to high glycosylation.

Linkage

Replaces: MABF201

Physical form

Affinity purified
Purified rabbit polyclonal in buffer containing 0.1 M Tris-Glycine (pH 7.4), 150 mM NaCl with 0.05% sodium azide.
