General description

Gold(III) chloride solution, commonly called asauric chloride or auric acid is widely used as a precursor to synthesize goldcomplexes and stable gold nanoparticles. It also finds application in the fieldof catalysis.

Application

Gold(III) chloride solution can be used:
  • As a starting material to prepare thiolate-stabilized gold nanoparticles.
  • As an efficient catalyst for single-pot oxidative functionalization of alkanes and alcohols.
  • As a catalyst for diastereoselective alkylation reactions with chiral benzylic acetates.
Suitable precursormaterial for the synthesis of Gold nanorods by using Seed-Mediated Growth Methodwhich has been used for cancer cell imaging and photothermal therapy.
