The 10X Casein Blocking Buffer is recommended for both colorimetric and chemiluminescent detection. It is used as a blocking solution for detection, which occurs after hybridization and is suitable for Northern and Southern applications.

This product does not have an expiration date once opened. The datasheet indicates the following regarding storage and stability:
Storage/Stability: Store the 10X Casein Blocking Buffer at room temperature. It is also stable when stored at 2–8°C. Casein may precipitate over time, which is normal and should not impact the performance of the 10X Blocking Buffer. If precipitation is observed, resuspension of the solids can be achieved by inverting the bottle several times or by vortexing for a few seconds.

The composition of this product is proprietary and cannot be disclosed. However, it can be stated that the product is a blocking reagent derived from bovine milk casein and does not contain any serum albumin.
