Levocarnitine is a naturally available compound that plays a significant role in fatty acid oxidation and energy production in the human body. It is majorly found in skeletal and cardiac muscles of mammals and facilitates the transport of long chain fatty acids into mitochondria.

Anwendung

These Secondary Standards are qualified as Certified Reference Materials. These are suitable for use in several analytical applications including but not limited to pharma release testing, pharma method development for qualitative and quantitative analyses, food and beverage quality control testing, and other calibration requirements.

Biochem./physiol. Wirkung

Carnitin ist ein quaternäres Amin, das natürlich in den meisten Säugetiergeweben vorkommt. Es ist in relativ hoher Konzentration im Skelettmuskel und im Herzen vorhanden, wo es an der Regulierung des Energiestoffwechsels beteiligt ist. Es verschiebt den Glucosestoffwechsel von der Glycolyse zur Glycogen-Speicherung und verbessert den Transport von langkettigen Fettsäuren in die Mitochondrien, wo sie zur Energiegewinnung oxidiert werden.
