General description

This certified reference material (CRM) is produced and certified in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034. The CRM is traceable to primary material from an NMI, e.g. NIST or NMIJ.
Certified content by quantitative NMR incl. uncertainty and expiry date are given on the certificate.

Ethiofencarb is a carbamate insecticide used to control aphids on pome fruit, stone fruit, soft fruit, vegetables, ornamentals, and sugar beets. It is an acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitor and gets activated by both contact and ingestion, absorbed by leaves and roots.
As per the commission regulation no 1107/2009, regarding the use of plant protection products and repealing the council directive 91/414/EEC, ethiofencarb is not allowed for use in the European Union. The default maximum residue limit (MRL) for ethiofencarb is 0.01 mg/kg according to the Article 18(b) Reg 396/2005.

Application

The certified reference material (CRM) is intended to be used as a calibrant for chromatography and other analytical techniques.
The CRM may also find the following uses:

  • Estimation of systemic and non-systemic pesticides in 80 samples of apples from Kazakhstan by LC-MS/MS and GC-MS/MS
  • Development of a method for rapid multi-residue screening of 12 pesticides and 7 mycotoxins in grain and animal feed samples using flow injection (FI) mass spectrometry (MS)
  • UHPLC-MS/MS determination of carbamate pesticide residues in fresh herb samples for human consumption and an optimized QuEChERS extraction
  • Study the photocatalytic degradation of ethiofencarb in the presence of a chalcogenide, SnI4S8
  • Differentiation between structurally isomeric pesticides using high-resolution accurate mass analyzers
  • Multi-residue analysis of 250 pesticides by ultra-performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) coupled to MS/MS in processed fruits

Structural isomeric pesticides are used in agriculture and may be challenging to differentiate for accurate identification in pesticide monitoring programs. Due to structural similarity, isomeric pesticides are difficult to separate chromatographically, and thus, their accurate identification may rely solely on
