Uridine 5′-diphospho-α-D-galactose/UDP-Gal is a nucleotide sugar.

Application

Uridine 5′-diphosphogalactose disodium salt has been used as a component in galactosyltransferase labeling buffer to prelabel terminal N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) on immunoglobulin chains.[1] It has also been used as a component in Hyp O-galactosyltransferase (HPGT) assay.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Uridine 5′-diphospho-α-D-galactose/UDP-Gal can block BALB/3T12 cell development. In mammals, it is very essential for glycoconjugate biosynthesis.
