Gene Information

Application

Hydroxychloroquine sulfate has been used:
  • as an inhibitor of autophagy to treat cells for apoptosis assay to study the role of pirarubicin induced autophagy in bladder cancer cell line
  • to evaluate the antiviral mechanism of hydroxychloroquine against DENV-2 (dengue virus-2) infection by immunofluorescence assay[1]
  • to inhibit lysosome fusion with the autophagosome

Biochem/physiol Actions

Hydroxychloroquine is also used for treating rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus.
Hydroxychloroquine sulfate is an anti-inflammatory (via TNF), disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (DMARD), and a heme polymerase inhibitor.

Questions

  1. How should stock solutions of H0915, Hydroxychloroquine sulfate, be stored after reconstituting in water or PBS?

    1 answer
    1. The best practice for item H0915, Hydroxychloroquine sulfate, involves preparing the stock solution fresh before use. Although information about the stability of small molecules in solution is rare, it is generally recommended to store in PBS at -20°C. To prevent repeated freeze-thaw cycles, it is advisable to aliquot into working volumes. Additionally, the effect of storing the stock solution on compound performance should be evaluated for each specific application. When used as a cell culture supplement, the stock solution should be diluted into the culture medium immediately before use.
