General description

IgG is a glycoprotein. It is a major class of immunoglobulin. IgG consists of four polypeptide chains, made of two identical 50 kDa γ heavy (H) chains and two identical 25 kDa κ or λ light (L) chains, which is linked together by inter-chain disulfide bonds. IgG contains four isotypes IgG1, IgG2, IgG3 and IgG4.

Immunogen

Anti-Goat IgG is produced in rabbit using as immunogen purified goat IgG.

Application

Anti-Goat IgG (whole molecule) antibody produced in rabbit has been used in chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) assay and electron microscopy.
Anti-Goat IgG (whole molecule) antibody produced in rabbit was used in combination with protein A-colloidal gold conjugate in electron microscopy of in vitro matured and fertilized boar oocytes.
Applications in which this antibody has been used successfully, and the associated peer-reviewed papers, are given below.
Chromatin immunoprecipitation (1 paper)

Biochem/physiol Actions

IgG antibody subtype is the most abundant serum immunoglobulin of the immune system. It is secreted by B cells and is found in blood and extracellular fluids and provides protection from infections caused by bacteria, fungi and viruses. Maternal IgG is transferred to fetus through the placenta that is vital for immune defense of the neonate against infections.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide as preservative

Storage and Stability

For continuous use, store at 2-8 °C for up to one month. For extended storage, the solution may be frozen in working aliquots. Repeated freezing and thawing, or storage in "frost-free" freezers, is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use.

Antibodies have widespread applications in areas ranging from therapeutics to chromatography and protein microarrays. Certain applications require only the fragment antigen-binding (Fab) units of the protein. This study compares the cleavage efficacy of dithiothreitol (DTT), mercaptoethylamine (MEA), and dithiobutylamine (DTBA)
