Fibroblast Growth Medium 3 (Ready-to-use)
Application
PromoCell Fibroblast Growth Medium 3 has been developed for the in vitro cultivation of adult Human Cardiac Fibroblasts (HCF). The medium is optimized for primary human cells but can also be used for porcine cardiac fibroblasts.Recommended for:Human Cardiac Fibroblasts (HCF)

Final supplement concentrations after addition to the basal medium:Fetal Calf Serum: 0.1 ml / mlBasic Fibroblast Growth Factor (recombinant human): 1 ng / ml Insulin: 5 µg / ml
Store the Basal Medium at 4 to 8°C in the dark and the SupplementMix or SupplementPack at -20°C immediately after arrival. Do not freeze the Basal Medium. If stored properly, the products are stable until the expiry date stated on the label. After adding the supplements to the Basal Medium, the shelf life of the complete medium is 6 weeks at 4 to 8°C. Do not freeze the complete medium. For use, pre-warm only an aliquot of the complete medium and keep the remaining medium refrigerated at 4 to 8°C.Note: The SupplementMix and SupplementPack are delivered thawed and can be frozen after arrival without losing any activity.
Analysis Note
All lots of PromoCell Fibroblast Growth Medium 3 are subjected to comprehensive quality control tests using primary Human Cardiac Fibroblasts. Each lot is checked for growth promoting activity, adherence rate, and typical morphology of the tested fibroblasts. Approved inhouse lots of media are used as a reference. In addition, all lots of media have been tested for the absence of microbial contaminants (fungi, bacteria, mycoplasma).

I will be using cardiac fibroblasts and aside from normal growth media (full amount of Serum) I have to serum starve the cells before my experiments. What media can I purchase where I can only change the amount of serum, not other supplements?

This product does contain serum in the formulation. A pre-formulated supplement is included with the medium that contains serum, bFGF, and insulin. The supplement, as well as any additional serum, may be added or withheld at the end user's discretion. Product 116F-500, an alternative fibroblast growth medium that does not contain serum that may be suitable for serum-starved experimental conditions, may also be of interest.
