Description

General description

TBE (Tris/Acetate/EDTA) Buffer is commonly used in nucleic acid electrophoresis. This solution has a lower buffering capacity than TBE buffer, but dsDNA runs faster with TAE buffer. This concentrate can be easily diluted to 0.5x before use (with molecular biology grade water).

Application

Suitable for use as running buffer for nucleic acid electrophoresis, which may be part of Northern and Southern blot hybridization procedures. Especially useful for dsDNA separations.

Other Notes

The TAE liquid buffer is a 1x solution that contains 0.04M TRIS acetate and 0.001M EDTA in water.
