For the Silver Enhancer Kit (Cat # SE100), what is the capping agent on the resulting silver nanoparticle that is formed after the silver enhancement reaction?

Am not sure what is meant by the capping reagent. The Silver Enhancer kit shares similarities with the Grocott Methanamine Silver Nitrate (GMS) procedure for fungus, basement membranes or urates. The GMS and SE100 kit are both silver stain methods. The SE100 has been formulated to stain gold nanoparticles instead of fungi, basement membranes, or urates. The SE100 has 3 reagents. Reagent 1 is a silver nitrate solution. Solution 2 is a Tungstosilicic Acid Hydrate solution. This compound likely replaces the methenamine reagent typically used in the GMS procedure. Gold Chloride is considered a toning solution in the GMS procedure. There is not an equivalent reagent in the SE100 procedure. The third reagent in the SE100 kit is a sodium thiosulfate solution which removes any unreduced silver. It is likely that the Tungstosilicic Acid Hydrate is what you would refer to as a capping agent.
