General description

Millipore is pleased to offer our new 96-well ELISA Rat/Mouse NPY kit. This kit requires no sample extraction and supports our commitment to the study of various metabolic disease markers.
Neuropeptide Y (NPY) is a 36-amino acid peptide secreted by the hypothalmus. It has been associated with a number of physiologic processes, including the regulation of energy, balance, memory and learning. In addition to increasing appetite, the presence of NPY increases the proportion of energy stored as fat and blocks signals to the brain. NPY is closely related to other peptide hormones such as pancreatic polypeptide, PYY and correlates nicely to Leptin levels.
