Gene Information

human ... GTF2A1(2957)

General description

Transcription initiation factor IIA subunit 1 (UniProt: P52655; also known as General transcription factor IIA subunit 1, TFIIAL, Transcription initiation factor TFIIA 42 kDa subunit, TFIIA-42) is encoded by the GTF2A1 (also known as TF2A1) gene (Gene ID: 2957) in human. TFIIA is one of the several components of the transcription machinery of RNA polymerase II that plays an important role in transcriptional activation. TFIIA in a complex with TATA-box-binding protein (TBP) mediates transcriptional activity. After initiation, some components of the pre-initiation complex, including TFIIA, remain attached and re-initiate a subsequent round of transcription. Binding of TFIIA to TBP helps to stabilize TBP binding to the TATA element. TFIIA is a heterodimer of the large unprocessed subunit 1 and a small subunit gamma. It was originally believed to be a heterotrimer of an alpha (p35), a beta (p19) and a gamma subunit (p12).

Specificity

This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects Transcription initiation factor IIA subunit 1 in human cells. It targets an epitope within 15 amino acids from the C-terminal region.

Immunogen

Epitope: C-terminus
KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to 15 amino acids from the C-terminal region of human Transcription initiation factor IIA subunit 1.

Application

Anti-Transcription Initiation Factor IIA subunit 1, Cat. No. ABE1797, is a highly specific rabbit polyclonal antibody that targets Transcription initiation factor IIA subunit 1 and has been tested for use in Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin) and Western Blotting.
