General description

Non-radioactive Rac1 Activation Assay Kit can be used to precipitate Ras-related C3 botulinum toxin substrate 1 (Rac1)-GTP from cell lysates and detected by a Rac1 specific monoclonal antibody. Rac1 belongs to the Ras superfamily of small guanosine triphosphatases (GTPases). It is expressed in two major forms such as an inactive GDP-bound form and an active GTP-bound form. Rac1 is involved in influencing several physiological conditions by interacting with effectors that activate several signaling cascades.[1] The RAC1 gene is located on the human chromosome at 7p22.1.

Application

Rac1 Activation Assay Kit has been used in the detection of active Ras-related C3 botulinum toxin substrate 1 (Rac1) in brain homogenates of mice and humans by immunoblotting.[2]

Analysis Note

Routinely evaluated by precipitating Rac-GTP from 3T3 cell lysates that had been loaded with GTPγS. The precipitated Rac-GTP was detected by immunoblot analysis using anti-Rac.
