General description

2, 5-Bis-(4-aminophenyl)-1, 3, 4-oxadiazole (BAO) is an oxadiazole-containing rigid bidentate ligands.

Application

Aromatic polyimides were synthesized from 2, 5-bis(4-aminophenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole and 2,5-diamino-pyridine via high temperature polycondensation. BAO may be used to undertake Schiff-type staining of DNA obtained from cerebral cortex neurons. It may be used for cytofluorometric staining to estimate the nuclear DNA in living and preserved algae.
