General description

RNase A Solution is a convenient alternative to powdered RNase A. It is a highly purified preparation of bovine pancreatic ribonuclease A suitable for use in selective removal of RNA. It has been pretreated to remove DNase I and is suitable to remove RNA contamination during plasmid and genomic DNA[1] purification procedures. Supplied at a concentration of 10 mg/ml in 10 mM Tris-HCl, 1 mM EDTA, 50% glycerol, pH 7.5.

Application

RNase A Solution has been used:

• in cell cycle profiling of embryonic mouse neuroectodermal cells (NE-4C)
• in the digestion of RNA for extraction of DNA from human osteosarcoma cell lines for chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) assays[2]
• to treat control adult and embryonic thymi cells during staining
• to remove RNA from affibody–mRNA fusion clones before clone screening

Biochem/physiol Actions

RNaseA is an endoribonuclease that catalyzes the degradation of phosphodiester linkages with a pyrimidine base at the 3′ -position on single-stranded RNA via, transphosphorylation and hydrolysis mechanism.
