General description

2-Bromoethanol is one of the degradation by-products of commonly used preservative, bronopol.

Application

2-Bromoethanol may be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in cosmetics, external medicaments, shampoos and bath preparations, air samples and active pharmaceutical ingredients by various chromatographic techniques.
2-Bromoethanol may be used as an analytical standard in the simultaneous determination of tetrabromobisphenol A bis(2-hydroxyethyl) ether and tetrabromobisphenol A mono(hydroxyethyl) ether by high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry.
