Application

Cytidine 5′-triphosphate disodium salt hydrate has been used:
  • in the oligonucleotide synthesis for silver nanoclusters interaction studies
  • as an anion source for fluorescence emission and titration curve-analysis of hypocrellin A-zinc(II) complex
  • in fluorescence emission experiments of copper(II)–2,6-bis(2-benzimidazolyl)pyridine complex

Cytidine 5γ-triphosphate (CTP) is used to synthesize RNA by various RNA polymerases. Cytidine 5γ-triphosphate (CTP) is a substrate for CMP-neuNAc synthetase(s) which produce CMP-neuNAc used in sialylation reactions. As a substrate of CTP:phosphocholine cytidylyltransferase(s) (CT), CTP supports the formation of phosphatidylcholine via the formation of CDP-choline.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Cytidine 5′-triphosphate (CTP) is essential for the synthesis of DNA and is a mediator of many physiological processes in living systems. It is crucial for the dolichol phosphorylation, cholesterol transport and is involved in the allosteric regulation of aspartate transcarbamylase. It is also used in the treatment of disease related brain.

CMP-beta-N-acetylneuraminic acid (CMP-neuNAc) is the substrate for the sialylation of glycoconjugates by sialyltransferases in microbes and higher eukaryotes. CMP-neuNAc synthetase catalyzes the formation of this substrate, CMP-neuNAc, from CTP and neuNAc. In this report we describe the purification of CMP-neuNAc

The CMP-N-acetylneuraminic acid (CMP-NeuNAc) synthetase gene of Neisseria meningitidis group B is located on a 2.3-kb EcoRI fragment within the cps gene cluster. Nucleotide sequence determination of the gene encoding the CMP-NeuNAc synthetase revealed a 515-bp open reading frame that

Phosphatidylcholine is the major phospholipid in eukaryotic cells. There are two main pathways for the synthesis of phosphatidylcholine: the CDP-choline pathway present in all eukaryotes and the phosphatidylethanolamine methylation pathway present in mammalian hepatocytes and some single celled eukaryotes, including
