General description

Measurement of metanephrine, a metabolite of epinephrine, is a useful tool in the diagnosis of diseases such as pheochromocytoma and adrenal medullary neoplasm. This internal standard is suitable for LC-MS/MS monitoring of metanephrine levels in plasma or urine for diagnostic testing, endocrinology, or clinical chemistry.

Application

  • High sensitivity catecholamine measurement: A study detailed the development of a high-sensitivity LC-MS/MS method for the measurement of 3-methoxytyramine, exploring its relationship with metanephrines and dopamine in plasma. This research underscores the utility of stable isotope-labeled compounds like (±)-Metanephrine-D₃ hydrochloride in biochemical assays related to catecholamine metabolism, offering significant insights for neurochemical analysis and drug development (Smy et al., 2021).
