Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to the third extracellular domain of human endothelin A receptor, conjugated to KLH. The immunizing peptide has 100% homology with mouse

Application

Anti-Endothelin A Receptor antibody produced in rabbitis suitable for immunohistochemistry (formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded sections) at a concentration of 3-16μg/mL using human heart tissue.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Endothelin A Receptor (ETA) is one of three endothelin receptors that mediates the effects of endothelin-1, a vasoconstrictor peptide. Located in the smooth muscle tissue of blood vessels, the interaction between endothelin and ETA plays a role in the regulation of blood pressure. Endothelin receptor type A (ETA, ETAR) is a human G protein-coupled receptor that mediates vasoconstriction of blood vessels. It is involved in tumor cell invasion, survival and metastasis. ETA mediates the promotion of ET-1 on colon cancer cell survival, invasion and MMP-2 expression by a PI3K-mediated mechanism. It plays a critical role in colon cancer metastasis.

In ischaemic hearts, endothelin (ET) levels are increased, and vasoconstrictor responses to ET-1 are greatly enhanced. We previously reported that ETB receptors are up-regulated in the smooth muscle layer of coronary arteries after myocardial ischaemia-reperfusion and that the MEK-ERK1/2 signalling
