Gene Information

human ... TRPM4(54795)

General description

TRPM4, also known as Calcium-activated non-selective cation channel 1, Long transient receptor potential channel 4, Melastatin-4 or LTrpC4, and encoded by the gene TRPM4/LTRPC4, is a calcium activated non-selective ion channel for Na+, K+, Cs+ and Li+ ions. TRPM4 plays a central role in membrane depolarization in cardiomyocytes, cortical and dorsal root neurons, endocrine cells, kidney epithelial cells and even hair cells. Additionally, TRPM4 participates in T-cell activation, IL-2 production, blood vessel constriction, insulin secretion and even cell proliferation in various cell types through the up regulation of the beta catenin signaling pathway. TRPM4 is localized to the cell membrane and golgi apparatus and endoplasmic reticulum. TRPM4 is widely expressed. Defects in TRPM4 may be associated with progressive familial heart block disorder which can be a fatal though unpredictable syndrome.

Immunogen

BCP-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to human TRPM4 near the N-terminal.

Application

Anti-TRPM4 Antibody detects level of TRPM4 & has been published & validated for use in TRPM4.
Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:50 dilution from a representative lot detected TRPM4 in human cerebellum and human prostate tissue.

Quality

Evaluated by Western Blotting in human cerebellum tissue lysate.

Western Blotting Analysis: 0.5 µg/mL of this antibody detected TRPM4 in 10 µg of human cerebellum tissue lysate.

Target description

~150 kDa observed. Uniprot describes 2 isoforms produced by alternative splicing at ~130 kDa and ~147 kDa

Toxic signaling by extrasynaptic NMDA receptors (eNMDARs) is considered an important promoter of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) disease progression. To exploit this therapeutically, we take advantage of TwinF interface (TI) inhibition, a pharmacological principle that, contrary to classical NMDAR pharmacology
