General description

Introduction of 4-sulfo-phenylalanine is an effective strategy for increasing solubility of a peptide. This amino acid has also been employed in analogs of angiotensin 2 [1], phytosulfokine [2], and cyclolinopeptide A [3]. Its incorporation during solid phase synthesis using Fmoc-Phe(SO3Na)-OH is best carried out with base-mediated coupling methods such as PyBOP® or HBTU.
