General description

Relaxin/insulin like family peptide receptor 1 (RXFP1) functions as a receptor for the hormone relaxin. It is expressed on the cell surface. The protein has an extracellular region which has a domain of 10 leucine rich repeats. This is connected to an amino-terminal low density lipoprotein class A module. RXFP1 signals through cyclic AMP. It is expressed in the astrodome of spermatozoa and in the uterus.

Application

Biochem/physiol Actions

Relaxin/insulin like family peptide receptor 1 (RXFP1) has a role in the production of cyclic AMP. It is also involved in implantation in the uterus.
