General description

Trophoblast antigen 2 (TROP2) is a transmembrane glycoprotein that transduces intracellular calcium signals. The overexpression of TROP2 has been linked to tumor progression due to its involvement in the regulation of multiple vital cell processes including migration, proliferation, and invasion. TROP2 exhibits strong, diffuse staining in papillary thyroid carcinoma, while staining in other thyroid lesions, such as follicular thyroid adenomas and carcinomas, is limited to rare, focal, or scattered cells. An increase in TROP2 expression has also been observed in colorectal carcinomas and ovarian serous carcinomas compared to non-neoplastic ovary and colon.

We aimed to evaluate the diagnostic utility of the novel immunohistochemical marker TROP-2 on thyroid specimens (226 tumours and 207 controls). Whole slide immunohistochemistry was performed and scored by automated digital image analysis. Non-neoplastic thyroid, follicular adenomas, follicular carcinomas, and

Trop-2/EGP-1/GA733-1 is a recently identified cell surface glycoprotein highly expressed by human carcinomas. The cytoplasmic tail of Trop-2 possesses potential serine and tyrosine phosphorylation sites and a phosphatidyl-inositol binding consensus sequence. Thus, we investigated whether Trop-2 might be a functional

Trop2 is a cell-surface glycoprotein reported to be overexpressed in various types of adenocarcinomas with minimal expression in normal tissues. Recent findings that Trop2 expression correlates with tumor aggressiveness have increased interest in Trop2 as a potential target for cancer
