General description
Hexamethylenetetramine (HMT), a water-soluble and cage-like organic building block, is employed to form novel coordination polymers. Its ability to inhibit the corrosion of mild steel in sulfuric acid solution has been investigated. The piezoelectric effect observed in the crystals of HMT has been analyzed. The preparation of certain binary, ternary and quaternary metal oxides via solution combustion technique using HMT as a fuel has been described.
Application
Hexamethylenetetramine may be used to synthesize:
- nitrogen-doped yellowish rutile titania
- nitrogen-doped graphene sheets (NGS)
- highly stable graphene aqueous dispersions
