General description
Prepared by cold ethanol extraction (Cohn method) followed by crystallization.
Prepared from bovine plasma by the Cohn original cold ethanol plasma fractionation method, followed by crystallization at low temperatures. Suitable for sensitive applications requiring high albumin purity and low residual levels of globulins and other biochemical activities. Suitable for the preparation of protein and molecular weight standards, and as a blocking agent for nonspecific binding in ELISA and RIA procedures. It is also useful as an antigen carrier protein in immunological studies and monoclonal antibody production, and as a control protein for enzymatic assays, such as protease, peroxidase, phosphatase or nuclease when determining the purity of reagent grade albumins.

Iron is critical for host-pathogen interactions. While pathogens seek to scavenge iron to spread, the host aims at decreasing iron availability to reduce pathogen virulence. Thus, iron sensing and homeostasis are of particular importance to prevent host infection and part

The orientation adopted by proteins on nanoparticle surfaces determines the nanoparticle's bioactivity and its interactions with living systems. Here, we present a residue-based affinity scale for predicting protein orientation on citrate-gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). Competitive binding between protein variants accounts for

Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis (MAP), as an obligate intracellular bacterium, causes paratuberculosis (Johne's disease) in ruminants. Plus, MAP has consistently been isolated from Crohn's disease (CD) lesions in humans; a notion implying possible direct causative effect for MAP in CD
