Description

Description générale

Flunixin is a potent nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, primarily used as an anti-inflammatory agent and analgesic for the short-term treatment of moderate pain and inflammation in farm animals.[1][2] It is also effective in inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins.[1]

Flunixin is classified under the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).[3]

Application

Flunixin may be used as a reference standard for the determination of NSAID drug, flunixin in biological samples[2][4] using high-performance liquid chromatography with diode array detection (HPLC-DAD)[2]/particle beam mass spectrometry (PB-MS)[4]/atmospheric pressure ionization mass spectrometry (API-MS)[4] and gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS).[2]

Flunixin may be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of flunixin in:

• Bovine muscle samples by hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography-electrospray-tandem mass spectrometry (HILIC-ESI-MS/MS) equipped with selected reaction monitoring (SRM) detection.[5]
• Animal tissues by dispersive-solid phase extraction (d-SPE) and enhanced matrix removal for lipids (EMR-L), followed by analysis using ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-triple quadrupole or quadrupole-time-of-flight (UHPLC-QqQ or UHPLC-Q/TOF) methods in conjunction with ESI-MS/MS operating on multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) mode of detection[6] as well as ESI-LC-MS/MS with SRM detection mode.[7]
• Porcine muscle samples by ESI-LC-MS/MS with MRM detection mode.[8]
