Hi, is this a 1:1 mixture of KI and iodine solution in water? What's the concentration of each component, please?
1 answer-
Lugol's Solution is considered a weak or dilute iodine-potassium iodide soltuion. This product is intended for use in Gram staining. Although the exact concentration is considered proprietary, the Safety Data Sheet lists the Iodine concentration as greater than 0.1% but less than 1%. There is an expectation that the combined percentage of iodine and potassium iodide is approximately 1%. More concentrated solutions are not available at this time.
