General description

Human placental DNA is isolated from a single female donor placenta, but will contain some maternal DNA. The sex has been determined using hybridization with DNA probes.

Application

Deoxyribonucleic acid from human placenta has been used:
  • to compare the efficiency of DNA quantification methods[1]
  • as a standard in real-time PCR analysis of DNA samples from bladder cancer cell lines[2]
  • as an internal control to estimate the degree of fragmentation of circulating DNA[3]
  • for restriction digest analysis to identify low copy repeat regions of human chromosome 22q11[4]
  • to compare the 70-bp P5 exon sequence between DNA of different human and primate species[5]
  • to calculate copy number of genes, relative to normal human tissue[6]
  • in PCR reactions[7]
For use in Southern hybridizations.

Other Notes

Solutions of DNA have been stored successfully for several months at 4 C, in 10 mM Tris, pH 7.5 - 8.0, with 1 mM EDTA and without a bacteriostatic agent. At low concentrations, about 25 μg/ml, DNA tends to absorb onto the surfaces of plastic tubes.

    1. The concentration will be listed on the lot specific Certificate of Analysis. Please navigate to the ‘DOCUMENTATION’ section of the Product Detail Page to access a Certificate:

      The volume will depend on the pack size ordered and the concentration.
      For instance, a 0.5 mg pack at 0.05 mg/ml will have a volume of at least 10ml.
