IL-11 is a multifunctional cytokine produced by stromal cells such as fibroblasts, epithelial cells and osteoclasts. It is expressed in a wide variety of tissues including thymus, lung, bone, connective tissue and central nervous system. IL-11 plays an important regulatory role in hematopoiesis by stimulating growth of myeloid, erythroid and megakaryocyte progenitor cells. It also regulates bone metabolism, inhibits production of proinflammatory cytokines and protects against gastromucosal injury. Recombinant Human IL-11 is a 19.1 kDa protein consisting of 179 amino acid residues.

Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in water to a concentration of 0.5-1.0 mg/ml. Please Note: This solution is slow to dissolve. Do not vortex. This solution can be stored at 2-8°C for up to 1 week. For extended storage, it is recommended to further dilute in a buffer containing a carrier protein (example 0.1% BSA) and store in working aliquots at -20°C to -80°C.

The novel stromal cell factor, IL-11, has been reported to have diverse effects on the lymphopoietic and myeloid/erythroid cells in vitro. These include expansion of T cell-dependent Ig-secreting B cells, proliferation and differentiation of megakaryocytic progenitors and of a variety

Although interleukin-11 (IL-11) has been reported to be elevated in hypoxic tumors and has been associated with a poor prognosis in various cancers, little is known about its precise role in promoting metastasis in hypoxic tumors. In the present study
Pulmonary hypertension (PH) associated to idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) portends a poor prognosis. IL-11 has been implicated in fibrotic diseases, but their role on pulmonary vessels is unknown. Here we analyzed the contribution of IL-11 to PH in patients with
