Cell Line Origin
Rat pancreatic carcinoma
Cell Line Description
DSL6A/C1 were derived from a transplantable acinar cell carcinoma (DSL-6) that had been established from a primary carcinoma of the pancreas in an azaserine treated Lewis rat. The expression of the ductal cell marker OC.2 was shown with a sub-population expressing ductal marker OV-6, CK-7 and CK-19. DSL6A/C1 cells are reported to be tumorigenic in Lewis rats and produce solid tumours composed of duct like structures surrounded by dense fibrous tissue. The cell line lost structural and immunohistochemical acinar cell markers while acquiring duct cell markers during culture and re-grafting.
Application
Study of pancreatic carcinomas, differentiation of acinar/ductal cells.
Culture Medium
Waymouth′s MB 752/1 + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS) (Heat Inactivated).
Subculture Routine
Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:2 to 1:3 i.e. seeding at 3-5x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C.
