General description

9,10-Diphenylanthracene, an aromatic hydrocarbon, is a blue light emitting material that is used for the measurement of fluorescence quantum yields in dilute solutions. Its derivatives show potential candidature in organic light emitting diode (OLED) devices. It is also used as a fluorophore for the study of peroxyoxalate chemiluminescence (POCL).

Application

9,10-Diphenylanthracene may be used as an analytical standard for the determination of the analyte in fish and meat products by liquid chromatography (LC) as well as capillary gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) techniques. It may be used as an internal standard for the determination of halofantrine and desbutylhalofantrine in animal biological samples using on-line UV irradiation and POCL detection.
