General description

This Certified Spiking Solution® is suitable for use as a starting material in the preparation of linearity standards, calibrators, and controls for thyroid hormone testing methods by LC-MS/MS.

3,3′,5-Triiodo-L-thyronine (T3) is a thyroid hormone and active form of L-thyroxine (T4), formed by deiodinase type I or II. It supports various physiological functions, such as oxygen consumption, carbohydrate metabolism, protein synthesis, and neural development. Free and total T3 serum levels are measured by LC-MS/MS for the determination of hyperthyroidism caused by excess T3.

Application

The Certified Reference Material (CRM) in solution can also be used as follows:

  • Multi-residue determination of seven thyroid hormones in placenta samples by isotope dilution liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (LC-Q-TOF-MS)
  • Parts-per-trillion analysis of five thyroid hormones in zebrafish larvae by their solid phase extraction (SPE) and ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization- tandem mass spectrometric (UPLC-ESI/MS/MS) analysis
  • Simultaneous analysis of six free thyroid hormones in bovine serum samples by ultrafiltration and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)-tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS)
  • Determination of six thyroid hormones in mouse tissue samples by isotope dilution nano-ultraperformance liquid chromatography–quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (Q-TOF-MS)
  • Identification and quantification of triiodothyronine and thyroxine in rat serum samples using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS)

Features and Benefits

  • Fully characterized under ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034 accreditation
  • Accompanied with a comprehensive Certificate of Analysis (CoA) with data on stability, homogeneity, accuracy of concentration, uncertainty, and traceability
  • Rigorously tested through real-time stability studies to ensure accuracy and shelf life
  • Gravimetrically prepared using qualified precision balances to ensure minimal uncertainty
  • Flame sealed under argon into ampoules for long-term shelf life
  • Offered in a convenient, DEA-exempt format to improve laboratory efficiency
