Breathe-Easy® membrane is permeable to oxygen, carbon dioxide and water vapor, creating separate, highly uniform microculture vessels from a multi-well plate.
The membrane comes as a sandwich. The bottom paper liner protects the adhesive layer, and the top carrier sheet protects the outer surface of the highly compliant membrane until it has been placed and adhered to the plate. The liners also assure sterility of each individual membrane. The adhesive seals every well (unlike molded plastic covers), permitting agitation without cross-contamination or microbial infiltration. Compatible with most caustics and organic solvents, stable from −80 to +100 °C.
Note: Use of the Brayer (Z380067 sold separately) is recommended to assure uniform adhesion and to facilitate removal of the top paper liner.

Hello! We use breath-easy membrane routinely in our lab. I need to test an effect of gas on bacterial growth. for that i want to know what is the permeability of membrane like what is the pore size?

The material has no pores. The oxygen exchange rate is 553.5 cc per 100 square inches per 24 hours. The carbon dioxide exchange rate is 3781 cc per 100 square inches per 24 hours. The water vapor exchange rate is 0.7 kg per square meter per 24 hours.

Yes, these sealing films are sterile and suitable for use in cell culture. When in place, a plate lid is not needed. These films allow for the exchange of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and water vapors while preventing microbial/viral contamination and well-to-well cross contamination.
