Applicazioni

Luteinizing hormone releasing hormone (salmon) has been used to study the effect of LHRH (luteinizing hormone releasing hormone) in the brain of Podarcis sicula sicula (male) during reproduction.[1] It has been used to study the hormonal regulation of PACAP (pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide) and its receptor, PAC1 (adenylate cyclase activating polypeptide 1 (pituitary) receptor type I).[2]

Azioni biochim/fisiol

Hypothalamic peptide that stimulates release of gonadotrophins from anterior pituitary, thus regulating reproductive functions.
Stimulates release of gonadotrophins from anterior pituitary.

Pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP) and its receptors are expressed in the hypothalamus, the gonadotrope cells of the anterior pituitary gland, and the gonads, forming an autocrine-paracrine system in these tissues. Within the pituitary, PACAP functions either alone or synergistically
