Pharmaceutical secondary standards for application in quality control provide pharma laboratories and manufacturers with a convenient and cost-effective alternative to the preparation of in-house working standards. 2-Butanone (Methyl ethyl ketone, MEK), an aliphatic ketone, is considered as an aprotic and protophilic solvent. Its ability as an anticonvulsive agent in lithium-pilocarpine-induced status epilepticus in rats is reported.[1]
