Description générale

This certified reference material (CRM) is produced and certified in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034. This CRM is traceable to primary material from an NMI, e.g. NIST or NMIJ.
Certified content by quantitative NMR incl. uncertainty and expiry date are given on the certificate.

Benfuracarb is a carbamate insecticide, widely used to protect citrus fruits, maize, sugar beets, and other vegetables against insect pests. It inhibits the activity of the acetylcholinesterase enzyme and prevents the hydrolysis of acetylcholine to choline and acetic acid.
On application, benfuracarb is rapidly converted to its primary metabolite carbofuran. Therefore, benfuracarb is reported as carbofuran, which includes the sum of carbofuran (including carbofuran originating from carbosulfan, benfuracarb, or furathiocarb) and 3-OH carbofuran. Carbofuran is not allowed for use in European Union and a default maximum residue limit (MRL) of 0.01 mg/kg and 0.02 mg/kg is set for its presence in frozen/fresh fruits and tree nuts respectively according to the Regulation (EC) no. 2015/399.

Application

The certified reference material (CRM) is intended to be used as a calibrant for chromatography and other analytical techniques.
Benfuracarb certified reference material (CRM) may also be used as following:
  • Residue analysis of 18 insecticides in water and sediment samples collected from aquatic areas around the rice paddy fields by chromatography tandem mass spectrometry
  • Analysis of 168 pesticides in paprika using the modified dry ice-partitioning QuEChERS method combined with LC-MS/MS
  • Simultaneous determination of 18 carbamate pesticide residues from whole chestnut and pine nut samples using ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS-MS) following a gel permeation chromatography (GPC) clean-up
  • Development and validation of a multi-residue analysis method for detecting 70 pesticides belonging to different classes from drinking water samples using a polymeric sorbent for solid phase extraction (SPE) and gas and liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS and LC-MS/MS) for quantification
  • Detection of 15 organic nitrogen-containing pesticides from vegetable samples using matrix solid-phase dispersion (MSPD) along with gas chromatography-Tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS-MS)
  • Simultaneous analysis of 27 organophosphorus, organochlorine, pyrethroid, and carbamate pesticides in Radix astragali by microwave-assisted or dispersive-solid phase extraction in combination with GC-MS

A simple, rapid and reliable method was proposed for the simultaneous determination of 27 pesticides (organophosphorus, organochlorine, pyrethroid and carbamate pesticides) in Radix astragali. The pesticides were extracted by acetonitrile and the experimental variables, such as temperature, extraction time and
