Description générale

Inlet liner is an important part within the injection port. The prime functions of inlet liner are to limit sample degradation and improve vaporisation along with correctly positioning the syringe needle. A wrong choice of liner can have prominent effect on the chromatogram. The basic problems related with incorrect choice of liner include the higher potential of peak tailing and mass discrimination. The inlet liner volume is recommended to be larger than the amount of sample injected by syringe so as to avoid any reaction with the sample. Injector port liner is suitable to make connection between sample introduction and GC column. Splitless is similar to that of Split with wide bore but without cups, baffles or twists. To guide the analytes onto the column tapers may be used in splitless type. Wool is used to increase vaporisation and to keep non-volatile material inflowing the column.
Deactivated (silanized) glass inlet liner for capillary injection ports.
  • Fits Agilent (5890, 6890, and 7890)
  • Fits Finnigan (9001GCQ)
  • Fits Varian (CP-1177 Injector)

Application

Inlet liner may be used in the analysis of headspace volatiles from fruits using Coupled Gas Chromatographic-Electroantennographic Detection (GC-EAD). It may be used for GC analysis interfaced with the mass detector HP 5972 operating in the electron impact mode for determination of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes (BTEX) in urine. It may also be used for solid phase microextraction (SPME) sample injection.
