Description générale

Calretinin is a Ca2+-binding protein. It belongs to the EF-hand family. This gene is upregulated in reactive mesothelial cells and in malignant mesothelioma.
Recombinant mouse Calretinin protein is expressed from Escherichia coli and purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

Actions biochimiques/physiologiques

Calretinin is widely distributed in the brain and might be responsible for neural protection. It regulates calcium signaling in neurons. Absence of calretinin in mice negatively affects long-term potentiation, motor coordination and Purkinje cell activity.

Forme physique

50 ml (100 μg/ml) in 50 mM Tris-Acetate, pH 7.5, 1 mM EDTA, 20% Glycerol.

The Ca(2+)-binding protein calretinin is currently used as a positive marker for identifying epithelioid malignant mesothelioma (MM) and reactive mesothelium, but calretinin's likely role in mesotheliomagenesis remains unclear. Calretinin protects immortalized mesothelial cells in vitro from asbestos-induced cytotoxicity and thus

The tree shrew (Tupaia belangeri) striate cortex is reciprocally connected with the dorsal lateral geniculate nucleus (dLGN), the ventral pulvinar nucleus (Pv), and the claustrum. In the Pv or the dLGN, striate cortex projections are thought to either strongly "drive"
