General description

  • 95 - 98% Sample Recovery
  • Highest Membrane Purity
  • Superior Handling & Leak Prevention
  • Volume Specific Dilution Control
  • Complete & Ready-to-Use Packaging

Spectrum′s proprietary Biotech Grade CE is a low protein-binding synthetic membrane available in 4 precise MWCO′s (color coded for MWCO variants) with no heavy metal and sulfide contaminants. The cylindrical tubing geometry prevents sample dilution (associated with cassette-type devices) and provides open access for total volume retrieval. Only the Float-A-Lyzer® G2 assures a 95-98% sample recovery while maintaining 99% sample purity and <1% sample dilution.

The leak-proof screw-on cap with sealing o-ring provides easy access with included pipette for loading, in-process testing and sample retrieval, without the risk of needle punctures. The included floatation ring improves sample buoyancy and vertical orientation during dialysis. The sleek design allows multiple samples to be dialyzed in the same reservoir.
No additional kits, buoys or accessories are required. The Float-A-Lyzer G2 is packaged dry and ready-to-go with all components included. Simply rinse with water, load the sample with a pipette, and dialyze.

Questions

1–3 of 3 Questions
  1. What is the minimum volume required for loading into this tube? Additionally, what is the pore size of the tube. Is it greater than 100K polymer?

    1 answer
    1. The minimum volume required for loading into this tube is approximately 0.7 - 1.5 ml. Regarding the pore size of the tube, the Repligen Tech Service explains that the pore size is not directly measurable as the membrane consists of a spongy matrix. Instead, the pore size is indirectly based on membrane retention performance, and it is recommended that the molecule to be retained should be 1.5-2x larger than the membrane MWCO. Therefore, the pore size of the tube is not explicitly defined as greater than 100K polymer but is indirectly determined based on retention performance.

  2. Hi, I am trying to extract mega-basepair DNA from low melting agarose gel. If I put the DNA gel plug in the G2 Dialysis Devices and heat up to 65 degree, will the melted gel be able to move out the devices, and the DNA stay remain in the device?

    1 answer
    1. Purification of DNA from agarose is possible using the Float-A-Lyzer G2 when electrolution is applied. However, the DNA will migrate out of the membrane and the agarose will remain. Heating will not melt the agarose. No protocol is available. The end user will have to establish the appropriate buffer and conditions. It is recommended to optimize using several small samples.

  3. Does it exist a MSDS or analogous certificate for this product?
