General description
Each unit of SRM 3134 contains five sealed borosilicate glass ampoules, each containing 10 mL of an acidified aqueous solution, gravimetrically prepared to have a known mass fraction of molybdenum. The solution includes approximately 10% volume fraction of hydrochloric acid, corresponding to an approximate molarity of 1.2 mol/L.

Application
The SRM is intended as a primary calibration standard for the quantitative molybdenum determination.
Features and Benefits
- The certified value of the SRM was determined by calculating the mass fraction values of mercury, which is obtained through two methods:
- Gravimetric preparation using high-purity molybdenum metal assayed by NIST
- Isotope-dilution cold-vaporinductively coupled plasma – mass spectrometry (ID-ICP-MS).
- The certified value is metrologically traceable to the SI unit of mass fraction, expressed as micrograms per gram.
- The NIST certificate is provided with period of validity, storage, handling, use, and maintenance instructions.
